Gordon Crossley studied at Wimbledon School of Art and then spent
seventeen years in advertising and twenty six years teaching in a College
of Art and Design in London.
He first exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1952 and has had
paintings in this exhibition sixteen times since, He has been included in group
exhibitions in various London and provincial galleries including Madden, Phoenix
and The Thompson's galleries and was artist of the month 2005 at Snape. He was
twice short listed for the Daily Mail Not the Turner Prize.
His paintings are held in collections in the UK and abroad including Chelmsford
and Essex Museum. He is listed in Who's Who in Art.
He is drawn to a subject by atmosphere and design in landscapes and seascapes.
He paints on site around his Sheering home and in Suffolk and France. He also
has a fascination for skies.
