 The
policy of the Gallery is primarily to provide a showpiece, mainly
for the large number of local artists in the immediate
area, both amateur and professional. Each month sees a change of
exhibition alternating "one person shows" with a collective
exhibition featuring a number of artists. The Summer and Christmas
exhibitions are examples of the latter. The Summer Local Artists
exhibition consists of between 40 and 50 paintings by local painters
depicting anywhere and anything in the world, whereas "Scene
Locally" at Christmas shows scenes of the
fairly immediate local area.
The Dunmow Art Gallery is located in the centre of the
High Street in Great Dunmow, Essex. It is one of the newest galleries
in Essex, having only been opened in April 1999. Open - 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays ell as returning favourites that have been with us for over a dozen years. The Gallery will be changing its name in the very near future to The Dunmow Art Gallery. This change will bring us into line with our website address(www.dunmowartgallery.co.uk) and make us easier to find over the internet. The Gallery is fully booked for 2011 and returning by popular demand will be our Attic Art exhibition in January. Watch this space for further details nearer the time.
