I am mainly self taught, having learnt from library books. I did this in the middle nineties and by 1998 I had joined the Southend Art Club and entered various exhibitions. I was amazed to have 4 pictures accepted by the SWA at the Westminster Gallery. This gave me confidence and the SWA moved to the Mall Gallery, London, where I continue to enter with varying degrees of success. In 2000, fate struck in the form of breast cancer, the prognosis was not good, but as always there was a silver lining - I stopped work and started to paint more.

In 2003, I was accepted by the SFP, to be followed in 2005 by becoming an ASWA and an OAP! In 2008, I became an assocBA and 2009 was a bumper year when I was accepted by both societies as a full member. 2010 brought a further surprise, winning a Windsor & Newton Award of Excellence. For the past 2 years I have been painting in all mediums and continue trying new subjects and finding ways to paint them.
