Petra Loewe-Brocker
When I am asked what kind of photography I do, I hesitate before I reply. For me, there is no limit to what I might find attractive to capture. My approach to taking photos varies from close ups to garden sceneries, or catching a magic moment. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by photography, using an analogue SLR for many years and which still has an important influence on my work. I try to get it right first time, each time; again, it depends on the project. My real passion, though, is gardens and nature, because of the wealth of variegated colour schemes. The diversity of light during different times, and the changing seasons, are sensational and create a paradise for photography. |

I am particularly attached to certain locations and, of course, to their people. Returning as often as I can allows me to develop a close and unique approach, which I hope is reflected through my photos. Most importantly, one needs to be in the right place, at the right time and in the right moment, and I have been incredibly lucky! The exhibition comprises photos of the Gardens of Easton Lodge near Great Dunmow, and photos from Berlin where I lived for more than twenty years. Additionally, you will find photos from Portugal, a country I probably know better than any other place, as well as a range of other unique and different sceneries. I hope you will enjoy the exhibition as much as I enjoyed taking the photos. |
